Should I Get Tested for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) ?
You are Recommended to get tested in any of the following cases:
- If you have any Signs/ Symptoms similar to COVID-19 or SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection), such as High Fever, Dry Cough, Sore Throat, and Respiratory sickness.
- You have been in contact with (or in the vicinity of) a confirmed case of COVID-19.
- As a precautionary measure, before undergoing surgery/ hospitalization

How Do I Get Tested for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) ?
Currently, COVID-19 Detection Test is done using the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (or RT-PCR) based method. It can only be conducted by ICMR approved labs having BSL-2 (Bio Safety Level 2) certification.
For Private Laboratories, it is recommended you Book an Appointment Online or on Call. Samples are collected at Home using proper safety measures and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits.
The Cost of the COVID-19 (RT-PCR) Test is priced at INR 4500 for Private Labs.

What Documents do I Need to get Tested for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)?
As per the government regulations, certain documents are required to be submitted at the time of testing for government records.
1. Doctor’s Prescription - for COVID-19 testing along with the doctor’s registration number.
2. Duly filled Patient proforma/ TRF (Test Requisition Form). Download
3. Govt. Photo ID (Aadhaar card/ Voter Id/ Passport) - Proof of current address and contact number of the suspect patient to be provided at the time of sample collection.
These are mandatory requirements defined by Govt. of India without which testing of 2019-novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is not allowed.
What kind of Sample is taken for Coronavirus Test?As per ICMR guidelines, RT-PCR (Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction) based test is the recommended testing method followed for COVID-19 Testing.
A Nasal (Nasopharyngeal) and Throat (Oropharyngeal) swab is collected for testing by taking due safety measures.
Additionally, Coronavirus Antibody Testing is also being ramped up in India, which would enable rapid testing using blood samples.
When will the Reports available Coronavirus Test?The Reports generally take 24-72 hours for preparation, due to the current situation.
